User Made Con Scripts - This page provides Con Editors and the Novice, Duke CONtrol reference to help learn from existing codes. Of course most of the Cons where originally indented for playing with.
Reminder - Always give credit to the original authors from which you base your new cons off of. Keep track of your additions.

All players MUST have the SAME EXACT Cons, Maps, Art and Sounds to keep the game in sync during multi-player.

 

Standard Compatibility Notes:

 - To play all these control scripts you basically would need both versions of duke (1.3d/1.5), or you'll have to modify the cons yourself to get them to work correctly.

CONs: Cons from v1.3d maybe compatible with v1.4/1.5 However 1.4/1.5 cons are not compatible with 1.3d , EDuke User note:  Duke1.5 Cons are compatible.

 

EDuke32 Compatibility Notes:

- To play all these control scripts with EDuke32 you basically would need both versions of duke (1.3d/1.5), or you'll have to modify the cons yourself to get them to work correctly.

CONs: EDuke32 has hardcoded workarounds for most of the issues that came up when testing faulty CON files that worked with the original DOS version.

.BAT Launchers: These add-ons may need fixes like changing a .bat file (if present) to call eduke32.exe instead of duke3d.exe.

Hacked duke3d.exe:  Some add-ons provide a hacked executable or provide a patch to hack the executable to add "features" or function for the add-on to work correctly. These type of add-ons require you to manual manipulate the enhanced features of EDuke32 to restore full compatibility, such as .cons and the game menu, etc...

 

Note: Although some Con Sets include combined function codes, there listed within there primary category. They may contain additional coding that would normally be placed elsewhere if they where standalone.

4. And finally, the biggest improvement I made in these con files, is the freezer weapon. I didn't change the graphic, but NOW it is definitaly the most powerful weapon you can have (which is appropriate, it is the last weapon). To use, just freeze your enemy, stand back, pull the shotgun out and blow it to bloody and icy bits!!!!!! Anything standing next to the frozen one will also die in explosive bloody death!

  RPGs have been really messed up. Fire one. Now duck and do that. Now hold space and shoot. If you do both, do so while moving or you'll drop a mine. This can be corrected in the RUBuser.con file (see #7).
  Bullets are tipped with explosives, shrink charges (effect only visual) , and Rubbermaids. Press space and fire to shoot off a 'maid -and lose 20 life.
   Duke now craps invisible mines! LIGHTLY TAP space while ducking to do so and lose some life. Mines can be detonated by shooting them and can be detected by rats emerging, smoke puffs, and/or scraps flying out at close range. Turn off if not for DukeMatch -affects only players.
   Hit steroids and jump to go into "stealth mode". Become a totally black, translucent shadow. Hide in dark areas.
  Duke bodies burn. Fully costumizable. Open RUBuser.con with a text editor
and follow instructions. Change frequency of explosions, 'maids, drop-off's by RPGs and turn on and off EVERYTHING.
  Duke bleeds blood and health under a certain life level (default 30 )
Duke's pant's change color to fit damage level. Great for DukeMatch.
Many other changes such as a random quote generator, more
guts, varying heath bonuses from Atomic Healths, max ammo amounts,
faster respawn times, destructable cameras, more freeze bounces,
increased pipebomb strengths, upped ammo pickups, bosses you can
kick to death, improved holoduke and medkits, new quotes, etc.
Also includes: a "grappling hook"-con date: 12-27-96
Fire the RPG as vertical as you can while ducking.

The phaser cannon is an add on weapon for Duke3D. It replaces the Freezethrower with a laser cannon, capable of vaporising enemies.
The phaser cannon comes with two settings, too. Never again will a stray shot hurt an innocent civilian! (Unless you want it to...)

when you've shot at a monster enough, they'll vapourise in an explosion and a shower of blood, leaving only a puddle on the floor. Don't worry - the explosion won't hurt anything else (like you). Monsters may, however, burst into flames - this does hurt.
Works in dukematch - has the same effect on your opponents as on the monsters, vapourises them.
SOB-BOT compatible - those of you with the excellent SOB-BOT add on can play with the phaser too.

The phaser cannon has new art and graphics. You may see some old yellow freezethrowers lying around, but don't worry - Duke will steal their energy cells and use them for the phaser cannon. Oh, and by the way, I've included a new gunsight with the phaser...

Whenever a player is near he will explode and create a big blast. Don't stand to close as it might kill ya. You can kill him from a distance by just shooting at him (he has 400 health though)

This is the sequel to Bum Blaster 2000. This changes the RPG into the ULTRA Bum Blaster 2000, which like the original bum blaster, shoots turds. However, the ULTRA Bum Blaster 2000 looks much better, and is rendered much more nicely. it also has a new gun effect. The gun holds more ammo, and when you shoot an enemy, they will be coated in shit. they will either just die, or be weakened and try to shake it all off, giving you a free shot. if you get close enough, you will auto-kick to kill them.

+ Noises can be herd when the dead enemy bleeds.

+ When troops are dead, A time bomb activates in him. He can go off between forever and 0.01 sec...so Don't stand to close.
When he dose explode he'll leave a item for you........sometimes.
ohh and the fat commander has a time bomb too.

+ Rats come out of the dead troops mouth...yerk!

+ When troops suffer, blood comes a flying.

+ Pigs cops are just full of blood when killed.

For quite some time, Duke Nukem 3D has had several bugs in it, so I have created a set of con files that "fix" these bugs. The changes are as follows:

* The Unbreakable Plate
Sprite #851 (a sushi plate) was not previously breakable like the other plate sprites. Now it is.

* Episode 2 and 3 Mini-Bosses
Now level designers can now use the episode 2 and episode 3 bosses to create corresponding mini-bosses. The episode 2 mini-boss is as powerful as the episode 1 mini-boss, but the episode 3 mini-boss is a little more powerful
(1.75 times as powerful).

* Duke Nukem Cutout
The Duke Nukem cutout sprite (found in the Babe Land level) is now
destructible, as it once was supposed to be.

* Wackplayer
The wackplayer command (occurs when Duke is low on health - when he gets hit, the screen tilts to the side) has been brought back.

* Security Camera Destruction
The security cameras have been made destructible (I don't know why they didn't make them destructible in the first place). Very cool feature.

- The Undying Fetus
The FETUSJIB sprite (#1347) can now be killed, originally this could not be done.

- The Indestructible Pad
The FEM6 sprite (#1334) was already destructible but the remaining pad (FEM6PAD, #1335) was not. In analogy with BLOODYPOLE (sprite #1327), it can now also be destroyed.

- The Buggy Hydroplant
The HYDROPLANT (#969) was a really ugly bug. When you destrroyed it there remained something very weird. Because the bitch was hard-coded I had to create an all new actor, (the first reason to add extra artwork) but now it behaves correctly.

- The Spotlight
Sprite #1061 (a spotlight) had a broken version (#1078), but you could not break the spotlight, until now

- The Motile Sattelite
In the game.con file a small piece of code was exlcuded which handled the moving of the sattelite and the space-shuttle sprites. I reactivated them and made a little change. Now these sprites float peacefully through space.

- Endless Ammo
A famous bug; when freezing a Pigcop and then letting it thaw out again, it usually drops a shotgun. Freezing it again and letting it thaw out yields more ammo. This trick could be used to get access to huge amounts of shotgun ammo. And I deliberately say "could", it is not possible any more.

- The Explosion That Did Not Hurt
The following sprites would explode without doing any damage, SATELITE (#516), FUELPOD (#517), SOLARPANEL (#602) and ANTENNA (#607). Now they do and I furthermore wrote code which gives a chaotic edge to the explosions of many of these items stacked together. The above sprite and several others (explodingbarrel and cannonball for example) have been added.
Instead that a row of these items explodes all at once (explodingbarrel had a fixed pause because of the animation) they now explode with random amounts of time in between, very cool!

- Miniboss Fixes
1. The third miniboss could be frozen but wouldn't thaw out, now it does.
2. The bodies of the minibosses spawn much more guts when blown apart (I mean they are really big, aren't they?) and the first three also spawn some metal parts (they wear a huge amount of armour and the like...)
3. In line with what Jonah Bishop did I've created an Episode 4 miniboss which you can use. It spawns slimers instead of newbeasts (In my opinion the newbeasts are too big to be spawned by a miniboss which is of approximately the same size). Just give it a palette of 3 (21 makes it red).

- The Scorpion Tank
With the Plutonium PAK also came artwork for another tank than the regular one. It's dubbed scorpiontank because of its typical tail. There have been more people writing code for it, but my version looks a bit like this: I've made a somewhat lighter and faster version compared to the normal tank. It shoots plasma with the guns on front and with its tail it shoots expander plasma (the first ever enemy to do such a thing!). Excellent mayhem assured when placed in big masses :)

- The Organtic
Yes, the organtic, such a strange creature. There was a little bit of code already written for it, there was some artwork and there were even sound files appointed to it. But since the latter were non-existent you couldn't use the Organtic, the game just wouldn't play without the missing files. Actually making a new enemy was one of the original reasons to start with this private project. While working on it I found out that I (of course) wasn't the first one to do such a thing. Just see this as my interpretation of the alien. I had to add some artwork to make this thing work but I'm charmed with the result myself. The result is a bit like the organisms in Unreal which also hang down from the ceiling and shoot something like
needles at you.

Now when you walk up to a fem, or the above listed character, you can RESCUE them, that is instantly teleport them away to a safe place! Hit the spacebar a couple of things will happen:

1. A message will flash.
2. The character will disappear from the scene.
3. A medkit, ammo, boots, jetpack, steroids or some other device or weapon may be left behind.
4. An alien may appear where the character just was, are you quick on the draw?
5. A morter round may be left bouncing around. Lookout! Its still LIVE!

Additional features-

The robot mouse in BABELAND has been converted to a bikini clad HOSTESS! Shoot her, ignore her or RESCUE her!

The "organtic" has been activated, with thanks to Sandman and Warlock of D-Blitz fame, and is a dangerous alien plant that spawns when an Octabrain dies, but can be captured for reward!

Pigcops can be teleported away(to a de-mutification lab) for a windfall reward of shotgunammo, but do you dare try?

For user experimentation, CIVILIANS have been included(art taken from Witchaven and Tekwar). Load the included maps to explore their possibilities.

A new human female scream has been added, so anytime a woman is hurt, she SCREAMS, just like in the splatter movies!

One other thing, STEROIDS have an extra ability, if on steroids, and if Duke's health falls below 50, the game will attempt to keep it at 50 until the steroids run out! Still, Duke's gotta watch out for close, multiple shotgun blasts and RPG explosions!!!

Includes map file full of FEMS, marines and organtics to try FEMCON out on!!!

Minor fixes from v1.0, 2 new fatalities, and now 11 new kinds of lizard troopers that can randomly appear.

New features:

--> Now you hear movie quotes when you pick up most weapons! The majority are Samuel L. Jackson quotes, but there are a few Army of Darkness quotes as well.

--> Fixed major bugs in the mind bullets which made one unable to do just about anything when they had over 100 health. Now they fire
much slower, and also only when the player is ducking.

--> Like in Quake 3, when you run you make noise.

--> New sounds out the--I mean, lots of new sounds.

--> A new logo animation, which honestly took all of about 10
minutes to make.

--> The lizardmen (not to be confused with the troopers) now shoot
shrinkers, which was my original intent anyway. Listen to the new
quote when you get shrunk, it's a classic. If you're on steroids,
they spit instead.

--> More emphasis placed on fatalities. This time, there are three.
1) Kick a suffering trooper for 5 health and an item.
2) Shrinking a suffering trooper blows him (and anything around
him) to bits and gives you 20 health.
3) Shrink a frozen trooper for 10 health points and a crystal
ammo.

--> Fatalities now also spawn rats, sort of a "Kenny's Dead" theme.

--> Fixed a bug in the original game that made the pigcop's shotgun
WAY more powerful than it should be.

--> Developed a control scheme similar to that of Quake 3 or Unreal
Tournament. More on this in the MoreInfo.doc file.

--> And most importantly, the clans!

When a trooper/trooper captain sees you, they may randomly turn
into one of 11 different clans.

--> Fire troopers/captains shoot the laser and explode when they die.
--> Ice troopers/captains shoot the freezer and are immune to the
freezethrower.
--> Psychic troopers shoot cool explosions and absorb mind bullets.
--> Radioactive troopers spit at you and hurt you when you're close.
--> Shadow troopers are solid black and can teleport without making
a sound or a visible teleporter star.
--> Stealth troopers are invisible.
--> Bonus troopers don't shoot and leave stuff as they're hit.
--> Demolition troopers will try to blow you up.
--> Trooper incubators will release a larval trooper upon being
killed.

the CON files themselves.

Random Respawn Pack v1.12: new gamecode causes the weapons and items to respawn randomly into another object. This now makes it possible to use all the newer weapons in older levels! And if you happen to play a user map, take advantage of the new

1. 3 kinds of fatalities (as in MORTAL KOMBAT FATALITIES ) for LIZTROOPS
a. GREENLIZTROOP - If you go near him during his "fatality state" ( or suffering state ) and hit space, Duke will kick his butt and send him flying in the air. If he hits
a wall or if he falls to the ground, he explodes.
b. REDLIZTROOP - If you go near him during his fatality state and hit space, he'd fly off too, but when he hits a wall, he sticks to it then fall down slowly leaving a trail
of blood on the wall. Then he falls down faster and explodes once he reaches the ground.
c. ANYTROOP - If you don't hit space during his fatality and just go
very near and kick him, you'll send him way up the sky with a trail of
smoke by malfunctioning his jetpack bla bla bla... he falls pretty fast
and his jetpack explodes with him. This also happens randomly if you
kill a trooper using his jetpack
2. A new breed of super aliens hide in the toilet.
a. They shit shit and sometimes exploding, giant feces which explode given time or when...
b. They attack at an amazing speed but due to their shitty situation they usually move slowly.
c. They fart poison fart.
d. Please don't kill them immediately because they're practically harmless because of their "seekplayer speed"
e. They're only dangerous when you hit them with the wrong kind of weapon.
f. Their giant shit contain baby Pigcops that grow into teen-agers

3. You kill an alien with yo' feet he flits away
4. Come play with trooper, octabrain, lizman, and pigcop corpses.
Just go near and hit space once, it turns into a toy, a dead toy. Every time you kick or shoot it, don't forget to hold space down first. Kick it while on steroids. This is particularly delectable in Multiplayer games because now you have soccer balls and you can play soccer. Build some Soccer Field User Maps. Now hold down space and shoot SHRINKERGUN to get a real good toy. SHRINKER guns have a peculiar effect on dead organisms. Dead aliens can still be frozen.
5. The real good toy teleports when you hit it with an exploding weapon.
6. Enjoy the warmth of a quaint bonfire with your friends, aaahhh! Just throw a pipebomb near them dead aliens you buttkicked or went near to and hit space and let it explode.
7. The real good toy is dead. The living dead is hard to kill again but it's possible and rewarding (what a challenge!). Don't try to shr.oooops!
8. Have mercy with the babies.

This is a con that does stuff to duke3d that has an
'ice' theme to it. heres a list of changes.

- Every weapon duke has freezes his enemies, ( except
other players )
- Duke sez "cool" a lot more, like when he picks up
something or something gets frozen.
- The freezethrower doesent hurt you anymore, it
replenishes you. kickarse for Co-op.
- When on steroids, you spew out freezethrower blasts
in whatever direction your facing.
- if you hold the spacebar, theres a chance you'll
summon up lotsa power and shoot a freezer blast in
the direction you're facing without the use of
steroids or a freezethrower. be careful when you use
this one, theres a chance you'l lose some health.
- Duke's skin is now blue, and his pants are grey.
- if your health is under 50 you drip and leave
puddles of water on the ground. Cool for DukeMatch
( Follow the puddles )
- you dont walk across the ground, you slid on one
foot like that gumby thing...
- When you get hit you make a splintering sound an
chunks of ice an stuff go flying.
- When you land on the ground or get shot the screen
turns blue.
- STAY AWAY FROM FIRE or you melt away real fast.
- Duke's icy touch freezes the strippers.
- when you die from an explosion, glassy stuff goes
flying.

The Boss2 and Boss3 are now killable without ending the game. Approx. 10 Rpg's will do the trick

If you give a Trooper, a Pigcop or a Lizman a palette

He will be recognised by his gray clothing and a
slight size increase.

To end an Episode or level without having to kill a
BOSS you can use TILE 329 as a sprite with a palette 7.

Description:

----1
Enabled grenade (a MORTER, like the one boss1 uses) with each
(AND ANY KIND OF) 'bullet' that hits when the [open/use] key is
being pressed. This means any pistol, shotgun, and chaingun
(note that the shotgun shoots several bullets simultaneously).

The 'catch' is that it takes 5 of your health to do it. This
number can be changed below (find 'addphealth -5') to
correspond to the skill level and enemy toughness (in USER.CON).

There are lots of tricks using this weapon, and of course it's
overkill (try a high skill level or DukeMatch) and they can be
sent to incredible distances instantly, but it's something
different.

I edited the art tiles, rewrote the con files, and
slipped in new sounds to make a much better Pigcop
Tank. I decided to replace the old Pigcop tank

The Scorptank is larger than the old tank, it moves
nearly twice as fast, has twice the hit points, has
much stronger bullets (new sound also) and from a
distance it shoots rockets and grenades through its
scorpion tail. It can also run you over and crush you
if you get too close. When it finaly blows up, It may
drop some RPG ammo, and the pigcop inside will ALWAYS
leap out, but it will be weakened by the blast.

Author's Note: Changing the weapon strength in the User.con file is not a good idea... Pigcops use the same shotgun as you & Lizardtroops use the same chaingun as you. SO, if you increase your weapon strength, you have given the bad guys an easier time killing YOU!!!

**After all, isn't it time that Duke really had fun while kicking ass?**

1). Duke now uses a modified H&K MP5K submachine gun (selector set on single shot) instead of his regular handgun. Special thanks to Ian Jones for the MP5K design. He fires hollow tip bullets instead of his regular bullets.

2). Duke loves the new flechette rounds for his shotgun. These rounds are specially made to explode into razor sharp pieces that shred the enemy. **Watch for LOTS OF blood and some serious exploding body parts**

3). What hero could be without a chaingun that fires EXPLODING bullets. YES, I said exploding, the finest minds in weapons created these bad boys. Best of all, YOU can't be hurt by the explosions.
**Wear eye protection!! They splatter everywhere**

4). I DO NOT believe that Duke would leave home without his trusty armor. So, Duke now starts the game with his favorite armor already on him.

5). Strictly for fun & enjoyment (maybe for exploration as well) I have programmed the Jetpack & the Scuba gear to always be at their maximum levels at all times. You can fly thru the entire game if you wish (WARNING...this could cause you to get dizzy) or stay under water and explore until your heart is content. I know that you probably would like unlimited holoduke, heat sensor, steroids, boots (just fly), & 1st aid ... where would the fun be in that ?????

6). Duke can now hold 48 clips for his H&K MP5K Sub-machine gun. Special bonus --> MP5K clips hold 24 hollow tip bullets. He holds 30 clips for his shotgun. Since flechette rounds are smaller, he has 15 per clip. Duke uses a new C-4 explosive compound in his tripbombs, RPG, and his favorite pipebombs...test them so you know the safe distances to use these enhanced weapons without loosing you own body parts. These have extensive damage and range capabilities!!

Many builders make their level enemies look different
by giving them a different type of palette, this basicly has no
special effect, but with this con file a basic assault trooper
with palette of 23 will become a deadly opponent named
as Assault lieutenant.

Assault lieutenant has following features:
- Shielding, assault lieutenant is capable minimizing the damage
of freezer and expander plus it's totally immune to shrinker.
Shield has also rebounding effect: handgun, chaingun, etc. bounce back causing damage to the player.

- Different weapon, assault lieutenant attacks player with expander,
this character may sometimes drop ammo for expander.

- More health points, currently it has 170HP

- Increased attack routine, Assault lieutenant attacks player from
a distance, rather than hiding or wandering around mindlessly.

This hack allows you to have up to 9999 ammo for every weapon, also each ammo box totally refilles that weapon. Also, the inventory amounts (holoduke, jetpack, etc.) are now 10x plus normal, except for the portable medkits, which now is 2000 health, and steroids, which I haven't changed. Also, you can now destroy the cameras.

Known Bugs:
The numbers on the inventory amounts in the bottom panel will be totally messed up, for example, the portable health kit says only 208%, even though you actually have 2000%. When it reaches to zero, it will reset up to 255% or something like that, and keep going back down and reseting. I have no clue how to fix this. Also, the green ammo numbers only go up to a couple of digits, so they will read 99. But the red numbers are perfectly fine.

(AND ANY KIND OF) 'bullet' that hits when the [open/use] key is
being pressed. This means any pistol, shotgun, and chaingun
(note that the shotgun shoots several bullets simultaneously).
The 'catch' is that it takes 5 of your health to do it. This
number can be changed below (find 'addphealth -5') to
correspond to the skill level and enemy toughness (in USER.CON).
There are lots of tricks using this weapon, and of course it's
overkill (try a high skill level or DukeMatch) and they can be
sent to incredible distances instantly, but it's something
different.

Now when you walk up to a fem, (or a wounded marine) hit the spacebar a couple of things will happen:

1. A message will flash telling you "Captive rescued and teleported away," or "Wounded marine rescued, he'll be OK!"
2. The fem or marine will disappear from the scene.
3. A medkit, ammo, boots, jetpack, steroids or some other device or weapon may be left behind.
4. An alien may appear where the fem or marine just was, are you quick on the draw?
5. A morter round may be left bouncing around. Lookout! Its still LIVE!

Additionally, the "organtic" has been activated and is a dangerous alien plant that can be captured for reward!

One other thing, STEROIDS have an extra ability, if on steroids, and if Duke's health falls below 50, the game will attempt to keep it at 50 until the steroids run out! Still, Duke's gotta watch out for close, multiple shotgun blasts and RPG explosions!!!

DUKEMATCH CON v1.2, This is optimized for the SHAREWARE. However, it seems to work on the full fully.
1. Bleeding (track'em by the blood!)
2. Destroy items! Boxes of pipebombs EXPLODE!
3. When a player is spawned, he or she has a special ability, as indicated by a change in appearence. When shot, they may lose that ability/appearence and revert to normal:
A. The Shadow- Translucent. Flat Black. Invisable when crouching and still.
B. Peter Pan- Green. Unlimited flying. But don't fly too high, if you're shot, you fall. (heh heh)
C. Andre the Giant- Duck and hit space to kill everything in a LARGE radius. Do this only if in trouble 'cause you can only do it once and after that, you inflate to a huge target and die soon. (still, stepping out a door and seeing a 5-story Duke is always unnerving ;)
D. Pyromaniac- My personal favorite. Red skin. Drop to the ground
and hit space to shoot off a fireball around you: won't hurt YOU but will torch passerbys. Also a flame follows your feet. Once again, no pain but makes it hard to hide. On the other hand it can illuminate a dark room.
E. The Mad Miner- Very fun! Duck and *TAP* space to drop a mine. it'll cost you a few hit points but don't worry: MOVE! It will arm in a couple of seconds.

9 C This is a .CON hack for Duke Nukem BETA ("LameDuke"). It enhances the game by making it more like a game (no more god mode, still pretty easy unless you're playing in real DOS mode). Water takes your health to 100 if you're on water you get 100 health, if you're underwater you get infinate health set to 100, and It won't change until you are back out of water. I had to do this, otherwise, you would die too quickly. Should make an interesting dukematch obstacle/advantage.

[F] By distributing or permitting the distribution of any New Level, all owners of any trademark, copyright or other right, title or interest therein (to the extent different from the Game as originally distributed by 3D Realms) grant back to 3D Realms an irrevocable royalty free right to distribute the level.

[G] The distributor of any New Level or Level Editor must be authorized to distribute the Game itself (either in writing, or by being within a category where no writing is needed under these LICENSE.DOC that comes on the Duke CD's).
