Before i
thought these windows and doors trick were myths and impossible to make
without con hack and duke's engine decryption until i learn odd tricks
by a map named Bedrone, a cool map Billy Boy did in Duke3D. |
Now this page will show you how
to make impossible windows and doors tricks, since you cannot make
diagonal sprites like '\' for roof or something like sectors, you can
make an alternate that will allow you to make complex base insides
(these pic are simple to show how to make it). I link them because it would take age to load with slower modem or bad browsers etc. IT IS VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU MAKE TEST LEVEL FOR THIS SPECIAL EFFECTS AND IF YOU DO IT IN YOUR LEVEL YOU MAKE AN EMERGENCY FOLDER INCASE AN ERROR OCCUR AND CORRUPT YOUR WORK. IF IT WORK YOU UPGRADE YOUR EMERGENCY BACKUP OFTEN!!! Note: I hold ZERO responsibility for any damage and corruption to your map which may lead to total lost of it!!! |
Keep that in mind, always make a
triangle for the window & door FX, some pic will show it. Note: some lines may be missing because .tga to .jpg cause that annoying color change thing, No.1 Will show you the standard window and 1 side window HERE (NOTE enemies can only see you one way in one sided window, through the clear only). No.2 Now for the cool goodies... A. Place 2 dots on the red line and 2 on the white line.. HERE B. Then Place 2 triangles in the outside of the window (TRIANGLES ONLY!!!!). HERE C. Now for the back of the line with the triangles you put, place lines like THAT. D. Doing that will mess up your diagonal roof like THAT, but its fixable ☺. E. Fix your roof like THAT. F. Now lets get back to the windows FXs, you make your windows. HERE G. Move the white line until the point reach 1 pixel before it touches the other. HERE (NOTE The best way is you select the 2 points "green vertex" and move them slowly) H. Move 1 point of the red line down like THAT, the move the other point like THAT. I. Make the window HERE. + More info (only if window refuse to separate) HERE After you saw the info, remove the temp: sector by pressing 'J' (join sectors) so it doesn't waste sectors. Then your window should WORK... J. You have a nice WINDOW ☺. K. These windows must be sprites in the outside like in 'L' for the special WINDOW FXs. L. Now to put a glass in each of these WINDOWS (note they will be 1 sided). (windows will automatically be 1 sided so pressing 1 for these is not require.) M. DONE |

Will show you how to make a bit more advance door (same as Bedrone and
others)![]() A. Weird structure is HERE B. To be able to access in the structure in build for working on it, you must make THAT. C. You must make a door and a sector inside the BLOCK. D. Rise the same HEIGHT as the inner of the building, base, shack and structure etc. E. Now do the INTERIOR lines of the structure like the pic. F. Make the DOTS for the structure's windows. G. Same as the window, make triangle sector front and rectangular for back like the PIC. H. Just a SHOT of the structure, I put an antenna on the roof to prove u can go on the roof. I. Now for the base's DOOR, its a very complex, long and hard part to make. J. After you did the SECTOR for your door, you do the duplicate of the normal one, make sure you match the texture height, angle, shade, size and sector for realistic FX. K. Make your triangle is close to the line as possible to avoid the ceiling sprite to cut (vanishing) when you get close to the end of the sector, after MOVE it to create the way. L. Now move it DOWN close to the other point. M. Make the DOOR like the pic say. N.(optional: if it refuse to separate do THAT. for removal same as the window trick HERE. O.
